The world of business faces one of the biggest digital changes in decades. From January 1, 2027 the exchange of invoices between businesses (B2B) and towards the state (B2G) becomes mandatory electronic. No more manual data re-typing, lost envelopes, or PDF files "buried" in your email inbox.
We have prepared a clear list of the most frequently asked questions to help you understand what awaits you and how to prepare for this change in advance, so you can be completely relaxed while others are panicking.
1. E-invoice Basics: What is changing?
What is an e-invoice and how does it affect me?
An e-invoice is not just an "invoice on a computer." It is an electronic document in a structured XML format that allows systems to exchange data automatically. It affects you if you issue or receive invoices within your business (B2B) or towards state institutions (B2G).
Important deadlines:
- From Jan 1, 2027: Mandatory for all domestic (national) transactions.
- From July 1, 2030: The obligation extends to cross-border transactions within the EU (according to the ViDA directive). Until then, you send invoices abroad as you have done so far.
What is the difference between an e-invoice and a PDF invoice?
This is the most common mistake. A PDF invoice is not an e-invoice. A PDF is an image intended for the human eye. An e-invoice (XML) is code intended for machines. While you have to manually upload or re-type a PDF, an e-invoice "flows" directly into your accounting system without a single click.
2. Peppol: Your New Digital Postman
What is Peppol and a Peppol Access Point (AP)?
Peppol is an international, secure network for exchanging electronic documents. Imagine it as a highway for invoices. A Peppol Access Point (AP) is like your "digital postman." It is a certified node that receives the invoice, verifies its format, encrypts it, and delivers it safely to the recipient.
Is Peppol secure?
Absolutely. Communication takes place via the strictly secured AS4 protocol and uses encryption. The entire system complies with GDPR, and data remains within the EU. Asseco Solutions is a certified provider of this access point, guaranteeing full compliance with Slovak legislation.
Do I need to have the same "digital postman" as my customer?
No. The Peppol network works similarly to mobile operators. It doesn't matter which operator you use—you can call anyone. Similarly, it doesn't matter which Access Point you use and which your partner uses; documents automatically find the right path in the network thanks to the Peppol ID.
3. Network Identification: What is Peppol ID?
What is Peppol ID and where do I get it?
Peppol ID is your company's unique address in this network. It works similarly to an IBAN or an email address. Thanks to it, the system knows exactly who to deliver the invoice to.
- Format for SK: Most often a combination of codes and your ID number (IČO) or VAT number (e.g., 9930:SKxxxxxxxxxx).
- How to get it: You obtain the ID by registering with a certified provider, such as Asseco Solutions.
How can I verify a partner's Peppol ID?
There is a public register at directory.peppol.eu. Simply enter the company name or ID number, and you will immediately see if your partner is registered in the network.
4. Preparation and Implementation
How do I connect the e-invoice to my ERP system?
If you use systems from Asseco Solutions (such as QASIDA, SPIN, iSPIN, HOREC, or iNuvio), integration is 100% guaranteed. Our systems are prepared for this change and communicate with Peppol AP natively. If you use other software, connection can be realized via the SAPI interface after technical consultation.
What if I have only a small volume of invoices?
We also think of small entrepreneurs. For a volume of 1–50 invoices per month, we offer the START package for €0. You can thus start invoicing modernly without any entry costs.
What if I don't manage the e-invoice obligation by 2027?
Don't gamble here. Without a digital postman (Peppol AP), it will not be possible to legally send an invoice to a partner starting Jan 1, 2027, which will prevent you from claiming VAT deductions and expose you to the risk of state sanctions.
Solve your e-invoicing in advance and relax during the biggest rush.
5. Why choose Asseco Solutions?
We don't play in the second league. We are an accredited delivery service provider in Slovakia and a member of the strong European Asseco Group.
- Money is safe: Thanks to e-invoicing, documents are processed 2–3x faster, meaning payments can arrive in your account 5 to 10 days earlier.
- Everything under one roof: We have our own certified Peppol Access Point, so you don't need any other intermediaries.
- Local support: Our helpdesk speaks your language and understands Slovak realities.
- Peace of mind in business: Our system is not a rigid filing box, but a living organism that will help you grow and rid you of chaos.
