Starting in 2027, invoice exchange between businesses in Slovakia will become mandatory in electronic form. Find out what this means, how it works, and what you’ll need to get ready.
What is an e-invoice?
An e-invoice is an invoice in a machine-readable XML format (UBL 2.1), which is sent and received exclusively via the e-Invoice delivery service. This system ensures that all invoices between companies are exchanged in a standardized and secure way.
Starting in 2027, the obligation to use e-invoicing will apply to all domestic B2B invoices (between businesses) as well as B2G invoices (to the government). From 2030, it will also apply to cross-border transactions.
Why is e-invoicing being introduced?
-
Simplifies invoice exchange between businesses
-
Eliminates errors and manual data entry
-
Enables faster document processing and payment matching
-
Reduces costs – no more paper or PDF invoices
-
Improves VAT control and transparency for the government

Who does e-invoicing apply to?
-
B2B (Business to Business) – mandatory from 2027 for invoicing between companies
-
B2G (Business to Government) – mandatory from 2027 for invoicing to the public sector
-
B2C (Business to Consumer) – currently voluntary
How does e-invoicing work in practice?
-
You issue an invoice in your accounting or ERP system (e.g. QASIDA).
-
The invoice is automatically converted into XML format (UBL 2.1).
-
It is sent via a certified Peppol Access Point (AP) provider.
-
The invoice is validated by the Financial Administration system (the national e-invoice hub).
-
Once approved, it is delivered to the recipient via their AP point and receipt is confirmed.
What is a Peppol Access Point (AP)?
Peppol is an international network for exchanging electronic documents between organizations. An Access Point (AP) acts as a gateway that connects your system to the Peppol network. Only certified providers can process e-invoices – ensuring security, encryption, and reliable delivery. Asseco Solutions is a direct and certified Peppol Access Point provider, guaranteeing full legislative compliance.

💡Who pays for access to the Peppol network?
Each company is responsible for arranging and covering access to a Peppol Access Point under the provider’s terms.
💡What if I use multiple systems (ERP, e-shop, hotel software)?
Every system that issues invoices must be able to generate them in the e-invoice format or integrate with your main accounting system.
